The relationship between pressure controller and pump and barrel

A pressure switch is most often used to turn a water pump on and off by sensing a change in system pressure. They are used widely in the Water Well Industry as they are mainly used in systems that have pressurized liquids.

Your well tank’s pressure should be set at 2 psi below the pressure switch’s cut-on point. The way is to provide water while the pump is starting - without it, pressure will drop to zero (or very nearly) every time when water runs out but the pump is still spinning up.

PUMPLUS is a maintaining free diaphragm-type pressure tank. Diaphragm pressure tanks have two chambers: one for air, and one for water. They’re separated by a rubber diaphragm that’s permanently bonded to the inside of the tank, which rises and falls with the water level. 

The volume of the water in a pipe system will vary depending upon its temperature. An expansion tank is used to ensure the absorption of excessive volumes of water. This normally consists of a closed tank, where a flexible membrane absorbs the excess pressure.
